Oil on panel Signed A lively street scene in The Hague, with passers-by and a carriage moving between tall façades. The street narrows into the distance, drawing the eye past shopfronts, awnings and a distinctive turret. Warm ochre and brown tones unite the buildings and the street, while dark clothing and occasional light accents establish the rhythm of the figures. Leo Grijseels is known for his cityscapes of The Hague, which are compared in the art trade to the work of Floris Arntzenius. He also painted and drew landscapes around The Hague and Scheveningen. This panel emphasises the impression of street life. Figures and architecture are suggested with loose, assured brushstrokes, lending the scene a spontaneous, animated character. The warm wooden inner slip and decorative outer frame complement the painting’s rich earth colours. Ready to hang! Panel dimensions: 17 cm high by 21 cm wide Frame dimensions: 24.5 cm high by 29 cm wide
