Dutch Pastoral Landscape with Cows - Bernard H. Slotmann (1928) - Oil on Canvas

Reserved

H 80 × B 100 cm

This evocative Dutch pastoral landscape by Bernard H. Slotmann (1928) belongs to the Netherlands’ long tradition of pastoral painting. Slotmann devoted himself primarily to recognisably Dutch landscapes, emphasising tranquillity, light and rural character. In this composition, the stretch of water in the foreground and the grazing cows draw the eye towards the imposing group of trees at the centre. The low horizon leaves ample room for the expansive, luminous, cloud-filled sky. The interplay of sunlit pastures, dark trees and water creates depth and lends the painting a balanced, tranquil atmosphere. Ready to hang!
