Oil on panel Signed 'Ricky' A characterful portrait of a man with a direct, searching gaze. The sitter wears a dark beret and a high-collared coat. His slightly turned pose lends depth to the composition, while his face stands out clearly against the muted green and brown background. The warm modelling of the face, dark clothing and historical costume recall the portraiture of the Old Masters. Attention is drawn to the eyes, furrowed brow and fine moustache, which lend the face a serious expression. The rounded top and red surround give this portrait a striking, distinctive presentation.
